AM I REALLY MIDDLE AGE Related entries: Story Updates I can't be. There is no way. No how. I just grew out of puberty...okay, so that was 20+ years ago. When I started to listen to Jennifer Deer's essay about getting old... not being able to sleep properly (yes, I woke up at 5:30am this morning for the 2nd time in a row and no, they aren't beating me in the office) and not being able to handle more than one glass of wine... Related entries: Story Updates There have been some interesting developments concerning two of the website picks I've talked about in the past few weeks... The online photo site Flickr was bought by Yahoo last week. Many long time flickr lovers are a bit worried about this, feeling that their beloved quirky site is going to go all corporate and mainstream. But others feel this is great news, giving flickr the freedom to keep going with the innovative website experiments they're known for, while allowing some of their best creations to trickle out to Yahoo's mega-site. You can listen to my flickr.com review here. The online grass-roots online encyclopedia Wikipedia continues to experience phenominal growth. As a quick measure of their success, the wikipedia staff compare their usage stats to those of the major media and reference websites. Since I reviewed wikipedia (listen) back on the March 5th program, its' usage has increased to the point that more people now visit the wikipedia site every day than visit the New York Times site. Pretty impressive! Is there a website you think I should review? Let us know. Posted by Chris Spurgeon on March 25, 2005 Return to the Weekend America blog main page
