Spring means booking season at Saint Paul Sunday, so our office discussions include gardening, weather…and which artists to book for the coming season. We try to keep a balance of old friends and new artists to the program. The good news is that there is never a lack of outstanding musicians to choose from.
I’ll ask about new artists soon, but right now, who would you like to see return to SPS next year?

Helen Callus, natch - and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (I stopped what I was doing to turn on every stereo in the house this morning when I heard them play).

James Ehnes! He's my favorite living violinist and such a nice guy besides. I really enjoyed his SPS interview with pianist Eduard Laurel. Other musical favorites include Rachel Barton Pine, Gil Shaham, Angela Hewitt, Jasper Wood, Leonidas Kavakos, Hilary Hahn, Sarah Chang, Mark Kosower, Peter Andreszewski, Alexandre Dossin, Wendy Chen, Anonymous 4 (have they disbanded?), Midori, the Juilliard String Quartet...hmm, I suppose that's enough for a couple seasons!
