Leslie Allen
Reno, Nevada
I was born in California, and have fond memories of homegrown tomatoes and freshly caught crawdads. My family moved a lot when I was growing up. I even lived on the East coast for a while. More about Leslie
Laura Solorio
Salinas, California
I am third in a line of strong Yaqui women. My grandmother was from Baja California, from the town of Santa Rosalia. She came to the United States as a young woman, with her first child, escaping an abusive husband. More about Laura
Scott Swendsen
Boise, Idaho
I am in my late 40's and single and a bit selfish. Having no children and no spouse has allowed me to pretty much explore life in a much different way than most families would. More about Scott
Paulette Thompson
Seattle, Washington
I, P. Thompson, also known as Paulette, love food. It should not surprise you that I love to cook and eat good food. I also love talking about it, thinking about it, and reading about it. More about Paulette

October has slipped by without one entry from this Locavore. I have been trying to put in a few days of volunteering for the election. I have not felt so motivated to take action for years. We incorporated volunteering into our vacation plans. On our way to Zion National Park for some fabulous hiking, we stopped off in Las Vegas to help out. What a great experience!
My one big contribution to my family and friends' diets, has been tomatoes. I still have them coming out of my ears! These plants just won't stop. One is stupice and the other, I don't know the name of, but they're big, red tomatoes with a pretty good taste. Parts of the plants are still producing flowers. I give my neighbors tomatoes and they give me figs, lemons, basil and chayotes. I can't wait to get started for next year!
You came realy close to a little cafe in SLC which has a locavore night every week with everything on the plate being strictly regional. If you are ever in Salt Lake the Tin Angel Cafe is very locavore friendly....remember eating out? www.thetinangel.com
