Leslie Allen
Reno, Nevada
I was born in California, and have fond memories of homegrown tomatoes and freshly caught crawdads. My family moved a lot when I was growing up. I even lived on the East coast for a while. More about Leslie
Laura Solorio
Salinas, California
I am third in a line of strong Yaqui women. My grandmother was from Baja California, from the town of Santa Rosalia. She came to the United States as a young woman, with her first child, escaping an abusive husband. More about Laura
Scott Swendsen
Boise, Idaho
I am in my late 40's and single and a bit selfish. Having no children and no spouse has allowed me to pretty much explore life in a much different way than most families would. More about Scott

I have been busy! To top it off I have been coming home late every night. With papers due and grades to turn in, I have not found the particular harissa recipe I was looking for. I would procrastinate and look at cookbooks. I saw a few recipes. They all call for dried peppers.
I have to think about where my Paula Wolfert's Couscous and Other Good Food from Morocco book is. I can't remember whether she has a harissa recipe. Still, I'll hook y'all up tomorrow with one no matter what.
Veterans' Day was rainy. I wanted to do some baking. It didn't happen.
My mom's been out of town so I have not been able to rely on her Sunday dinner for leftovers. I made pasta a week ago with collard greens, salami and ricotta. This week I have been eating smashed potatoes with blue cheese, nuts, and arugula. Really good.
We had leftover bagels here. I now have several in my freezer.
Elsewhere? In the meantime, people in the U.K. are doing the locavore thing, "Living on the Fife Diet"
There's also a sustainability guide:
