Leslie AllenLeslie Allen
Reno, Nevada

I was born in California, and have fond memories of homegrown tomatoes and freshly caught crawdads. My family moved a lot when I was growing up. I even lived on the East coast for a while. More about Leslie

Laura SolorioLaura Solorio

I am third in a line of strong Yaqui women. My grandmother was from Baja California, from the town of Santa Rosalia. She came to the United States as a young woman, with her first child, escaping an abusive husband. More about Laura

Scott SwendsenScott Swendsen
Boise, Idaho

I am in my late 40's and single and a bit selfish. Having no children and no spouse has allowed me to pretty much explore life in a much different way than most families would. More about Scott

I, P. Thompson, also known as Paulette, love food. It should not surprise you that I love to cook and eat good food. I also love talking about it, thinking about it, and reading about it. More about Paulette

Arugula

Posted at 4:43 PM on April 9, 2008 by Paulette Thompson

My colleage next door, Richard T., is another RPCV in the Social Studies Dept. He served in Togo. He and his wife enjoy gardening. I have mentioned before that they start at least two types of tomatoes in their family greenhouse and then give away the plantings that they know they won't use.

Today Richard asked me if I liked to cook. Affirmative! Well, it turns out that they've got some extra bunches of arugula to spare. Richard grows arugula.

Richard echoes earlier comments that some of you have made on how easy it is to grow arugula. He is encouraging me to grow it. It is going to happen.

I like arugula on sandwiches and pizza. I like it on salad and pasta! I am sure it is good with eggs. There is even a recipe in one of Jill Duplexis' books featuring a nice blended bubbly arugula drink .
I will be doing fine this weekend!

If I find someone with a digital camera (I don't own one) to take a picture of the arugula.
If I find someone with a camcorder I can get filmed cooking and eating arugula.
