Thanksgiving

Posted at 8:46 PM on November 26, 2008 by Gina Keenan

Wow, do we have a lot of food for which to be thankful. Thanks to generous family and friends, the farmer's market and our CSA, our larders are overflowing. I need to figure out a root cellar situation in our basement because of all of the items. Right now our refrigerator is overflowing with root vegetables-not a practical way to store root vegetables.

Another locavore blogger had mentioned how they love gifts of local food; I couldn't agree more. My appreciation for these gifts have gone up a 100-fold this year. These gifts are precious. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving (and personal curiosity-I haven't catagorized this all in one list), I would like to acknowledge all of our food gift contributors and the items given to us:

Beer-Franks-neighbors
Watermelon-Hansons and Steeles (neighbors) and Hawkes (in-laws)
Squash (amazing amounts)-Hawkes
Apple cider-Scott-neighbor
Zucchini's, lettuce, swiss chard, grape juice, grape jelly, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and eggs, Klages (parent-in-laws)
Pork Sausage-Klages (brother-in-law)
Apples (bushel)-Klages (brother and sister-in-laws)
Onions-free table at work (these were gorgeous onions-about a half bushel of them!)
Zucchini's-free table at work
Tomatoes-free table at work (there are some good gardeners at work)
Tomatoes-Beth (friend)
Tomatoes and peppers-Hansons (neighbors)
Lettuce-Hendersons (neighbors)
Garlic and blueberries-Schrippes (uncle and aunt)
Eggs-Lisa-coworker

Thanks! I don't think there is any gift better than organic, homegrown food!
