Oktoberfest

Posted at 11:27 AM on October 11, 2008 by Sareen Dunleavy Keenan (2 Comments)

Before I get started, let's settle one thing. I do understand that Oktoberfest was supposed to be in September, but life is busy I tell you, busy.

Ok, now on to the good parts. We are hosting an Oktoberfest party today. Brendan has brewed 10 gallons of an Oktoberfest beer, 5 gallons of brown ale and did 5 gallons of a dampfbier in the style of Shell's # 3 release (try it!). If you have been reading for a while, you already knew that the Keenan household had the tools and equipment to put out a great beer spread.

What you might not know is that German food seems to be a great match for our fall offerings of local food. We are doing a hot German potato salad with local potatoes, bacon, and parsley.

In addition, we are making fresh soft pretzels with local flour.

Oh, and what would a party be without 20 pounds of homemade fresh bratwurst with local pork? Not a very good one if you ask me. And these are great. Trust me, we stuffed them ourselves!

I hope that the bratwurst will be repeated... seeing as how we will be there next year!
