A comment related to a different post reminded me that I never posted details of another gift I received. I love gifts, especially ones that are given for no occasion and are not extravagant. A co-worker gave me a gift the other day that fit into both categories.
Apparently, with her group of friends they have an Asparagus festival. No, this isn't a small town huge hooplah, but it sure sounds like it should be. I have heard reports of crowns, Asparagus queens, talent competitions and the all important asparagus hunt.
From what little I know, the hunting process takes a large amount of skill. Thankfully my friend (the 2007 Asparagus queen I might add), is a superior asparagus hunter. Because of her skill, she had enough asparagus to give us two full pounds of fresh, wild Wisconsin asparagus. What a treat!
I cannot wait until the garden comes in and we can reciprocate some of the kindness that has been sent our way.
