The other day my oldest came out to talk to me while I was working in the garden, she was very serious and upset looking......I braced myself and she said "I can tell our money problems have gotten a lot worse", I looked at her quizzically and asked what she meant. She said "well, I was looking through our fridge and pantry and freezer and noticed we have almost no food........I laughed and said "oh no, that is just because we are Locavores". Funny moment.
Vera, great story! We have 2 small pantries and both are very low on food, too. Truth be told, it makes me a bit uncomfortable. Do you envision re-stocking with canned & preserved food? That's the plan here, though getting to that point will take a while since we won't get much locally until mid-June (and we're newbies at canning and putting up food).

Dear Donna,
I wonder how many of us are at this point, and yes it makes me uncomfortable. One of the things that makes me most uncomfortable is the thought of having to rely on my canning and putting up food abilities.....I have never canned food...I just aquired a chest freezer, I cannot get seeds to sprout, thinking that I will preserve our food supply is intimidating at best ( does any one else suffer from a severe time crunch, we are so on the road and we get home and the kids are collapsing from the excitement and I have to go make bread and cook dinner....I am pooped, I cooked alot before but this is getting ridiculous). I am curious what our group is eating now, maybe I will post the question as a blog (if I ever get time on the computer, my precious angels and a pile of dishes await, we had local collards with local onion sprouts over delicious home made pasta (thank you Ashley) with some asparagus sauteed in sesame oil and soy sauce.....rounded out with frozen corn and parmegiano cheese, it all takes time).
Best wishes, Vera
