Local food at the Metrodome!

Posted at 11:54 AM on March 29, 2008 by Sareen Dunleavy Keenan (2 Comments)

Ok, at least when I bring my meal on Monday there will be. Maybe you didn't know, but the Metrodome allows you to bring in your own food. I have taken advantage of this policy for years!

Want popcorn? Pop up a grocery bag full and make friends with your entire section.
Feel like Pizza? I have walked in several full pizzas and sat up in the cheap seats enjoying the game.
Made a commitment to eat local food? Fried egg sandwiches and homemade soft pretzels it is.

Just don't byob. There is no way around the $4.00 bottled water. No salt on my pretzel please. Oh, and bring on the baseball!

Oh man, I didn't know you could bring in your own food. That's awesome and I'm totally doing that the next Twins game I go to. Now if only they served local beer--we have some really good beers in Minnesota.

Joe, You aren't kidding. We discussed this at length with the wonderful people sitting near us last night. Everyone seemed interested in a non-macro brew option. On the way out of the dome I saw a small stand called "metro beers." Ah-ha. This is where they have them, you just have to look harder. Nope. Turns out that "metro beer" has nothing to do with this metro area, but some sort of strange interpretation of what metro-type people might drink.

Corona, Pacifico, Heineken... your standard macro imports. The only local beer was a Summit EPA. But, if the worst thing that happens in your day is that you only get to drink Summit while watching baseball, I think you are doing pretty well for yourself. - Sareen
