Mario Batali brought me back to New York recently to appear on his new show, The Chew. No one hosts like Batali; he rolls out the carpet and hands you over to the audience. He is generosity personified.
It was Meatless Monday, so Mario and I prepared Moroccan Red Lentil Soup from How To Eat Weekends.
It wasn't an Italian dish, as Mario noted. "No," I said, "because if I made an Italian dish, you and I would be arguing through the next 5 minutes."
Audience members took home a copy of the book.

Wonderful clip - - I don't catch much television, but enjoyed the segment. Am a dyed-in-the-wool agnostic, and loved your mention of Ramadan/ending the fast with this soup.
Perhaps we'll become a more cohesive group of human beings with more of this type of celebration re: honoring each other's positive aspects.
Thanks, Lynn - -
