Pianos for the People

Posted at 1:06 PM on March 21, 2008 by Fred Child

The feel-good music story of the week.

A British artist has turned 15 pianos loose in public spaces in Birmingham, England. Nice write-ups here in the Guardian, and here from the BBC.

Pianos with stencils on them saying "play me, I'm yours." In a shopping mall, a skate park, in front of a school, in a laundrette, a bus shelter, outside a pub, outside a soccer stadium.

This is the work of Luke Jerram. He's documenting the project at this website.
