Credit card companies are making changes in advance of new consumer protection rules coming this winter, courtesy of the Credit Card Reform Act. And that has meant changes to credit card rates and provisions for consumers and businesses.

What have you seen with your credit cards? Click here to help Marketplace Money follow the changes. (And if you have a digital copy of the letter you got from your credit card company, please upload it!)

What you tell us about your experience will help us report on the changes credit card companies are making.

I have avoided all credit cards and if possible any and all credit except one account I maintain with the AAFES(Military Exchange cause a benefit and tax free and usually lower priced than even WalMart( which my daughter, a Retailer Chief, with whom I live and share will not let me enter because she says so maltreat or rip off employees! or Target- so manyothers handle China stuff- i often wonder if—well I remember Pearl Harbor and all stuff we used to buy from Japan( even USA , Japan!) just before WWII! Credit can really bog a person down keeping him/her ina higher priced store’s clutches”NEVER EVER BUY ANY GOOD REPEATEDLTY BOUGHT and Consumed, like groceries and food, auto supplies and maintainence,or will be stuck with having to stay with merchant- businesses that gives you the Credit- can’t., then, go to obtain lower priced or better bargains on goods you buy and use!!! If on credit , you’re stuck with that merchant and lose shopping options! I used a small inheritance and stimuli payments to pay off all my credit and will not go back on credit if can possibly avoid it!!! and today ,I understand why my mother who worked so hard just to keep food on the table and a leaky roof over our heads whipped me good for buying a YO-Yo , and then later, a kite on credit at a li’l neighborhood store with the big “NRA Blue Eagle” hanging overhead, and took commodity rations stamps or honored the Government Surplus Commodities programs!! She wanted no more having to make anymore trips to California to work in the fields, orchards, vineyards and sheds as a migrant worker! Daddy was too sick from WWI Flu-TB to work at almost any job! or hospitalized! why we ended , broken down, in Albuquerque with so many other “lungers” -=high and drier for them and thought might cure,or at least alleviate the tuberculosis! a “Magic Valley! among Mountains” Not Mann’s place at all!

I forgot to mention one or a main reason and this happened some time back- I’d paid regularly( sometimes stupidly only paying that minimum payment due when I had enough money to pay more! This is really an unknown to many debtors , a real sacm! and had been paying about 15% I think- will did through my records and see if have ay statements with the rates I was paying(probably if any, hidden in copy or in small print in a portion of the staement not usually looked at! then all of a sudden and with no explanation to me I had an interest rate of , I think, was 28+ %- caught my eye as I thought: Man! that’s almost one dollar in each three I pay is interest! and I’m only reducing principal by 2.00 dollars!, or it’s over One dollar in Four going for interest!! I’ll never get this paid off! and that’s probably just what my creditors wanted my not paying it off at all! I was sadly, but fortunate, taking a very small inheritance from my mother,or some proceeds I had gained on the sale of a house and paid those debts all off! I did not pay any attention , nor do I know if I also paid a “penalty” or Service fee or some disguised-deceptive wording of an amount to pay off the accounts early- charges which are often made, but hidden or not brought or placed where debtor knows he/she’s gotta pay extra if pay early! I wonder if this gouging and stealing from a debtor by credit- tors is covered in new Bills.laws and regs? Of course if there’s something proposed in the regs and laws that Creditors don’t want, they will be eliminated and taken out of regs as they wouldn’t adhere to them any way; and there’s no enforcement by any government agency- It’s all smoke and mirrors by politicians so look good to voting debtors, but the Creditors are the ones with deep pockets and lobbyists, not many Naders about at al1.
