Moms want best of both worlds
An increasing number of American moms say they want to work — part-time. A Pew Research Center survey out today says 60 percent of working mothers say they'd rather have a part-time gig than be at home or on-the-job full-time. Dads surveyed had a more traditional take: A whopping 72 percent said their ideal situation would be to work full-time.

Rice-A-Roni was created in the late 1950's by Vincent DeDomenico, ason of Italian immigrants. Family members of DeDomenico confirmed yesterday that he died this past week. He was 92. Do you really want to go into work today? An Oklahoma company called the Excused Absence Network sells notes that just might get you out of that big presentation. For around $25, the company sells a fake jury summons, funeral service authentication or a note that appears to come from a doctor's office -- even an emergency room. Be careful how you use them though -- a New Jersey woman was arrested after using one of company's excuses to skip a traffic court hearing.

A 27-year old opera singer named Natalie will be the Bancroft representative serving on Rupert Murdoch's News Corp board. The Bancrofts controlled Dow Jones before agreeing to sell the company to Murdoch for $5 billion. The Wall Street Journal reports there was so much bickering among the Bancroft family when it came to nominating its own candidate to the News Corp board, Murdoch ended up having the final say. The Journal reports Bancroft acknowledges she's a neophyte to the worlds of journalism and commerce. She still needs to be approved by the other, all-male News Corp directors.

A lot of Americans may be putting off the trip to Disneyland until next year. The group that measures consumer confidence says the number of people planning to take a vacation this summer is the lowest in 30 years. The Conference Board released it's monthly report yesterday and the results aren't good. The Consumer Confidence Index has hit a five-year low. Researchers say Americans are anxious about their jobs and the rising prices for food and gas. The board surveyed 5,000 American households earlier this month.

I've just listened to Mr. Stein's concern for the poor working man. No doubt he drove his Bronco to the station to make his plea for the common man. Honestly, Ben Stein weeping for the common man's fate? After my sides stopped hurting from laughing ...
