Steve & Barry could be bankrupt soon
High flying fashion retailer Steve & Barry's may be heading for a fall. According to a report in today's Wall Street Journal, the company is planning to close more than 100 stores and may be considering a complete sell-off. Earlier this year, the chain was seen as a rare success story in the increasingly bleak retail sector. Steve & Barry's stores were popping up all over the place. Now, the company is looking for $40 million to stay afloat. If they don't find it, they could file for bankruptcy later this week.

Remember banana bikes? The oversized seats, the colorful prints, the wide handle bars. A Virginia man found one of the first bikes made with a banana seat at his corner bike shop. Tom Mault bought the rare 1963 Sing-Ray for $350. Now he's getting offers of $100,000 for the Schwinn. Mault says he started collecting bicycles because his parents couldn't afford to buy him one as a child.
On a wing and a prayer
A Georgia-based chicken restaurant is using it's used cooking oil to power it's delivery vehicles. The Wing Zone specializes in Buffalo chicken wings. They have 25 varieties. Naturally, they use a lot of oil to cook up those wings. A few months back, company founder Matt Freidman came up with the idea to convert that old oil to fuel. The restaurant unveiled it's first "wing-powered" vehicle yesterday. The converted Jeep Liberty gets 20 to 25 miles per gallon and can go as fast as regular gas-powered cars.

Coldplay are the new champions of digital media. The pop band now holds the record for the most downloads of its album in history. Viva La Vida has sold 354,000 digital downloads in two weeks. The previous record holder was John Mayer's Continuum, which sold 353,000 digital copies since its release in September 2006.

The porn industry has gotten a nice boost from all those checks the government sent out to revive the economy. A company that tracks the online adult entertainment market says many sites report a 20 to 30 percent increase in membership since May. About a third of these members said the stimulus checks were a factor in their decision to join or renew. Proving perhaps that size, of wallet, does matter.

Viacom is fed up with seeing its copyrighted videos on YouTube. The entertainment company is suing YouTube's parent, Google, for more than $1 billion. This week, the judge hearing the case is ordering Google to hand over every record of every video watched by YouTube users. That's not all -- Google will have to provide user's names and IP addresses. That means YOU, if you've ever watched a video on YouTube. Google argued that giving out this data would invade users' privacy, but the judge didn't buy it.

Nothing like an American holiday to get you eating. A Portland, Oregon company is hoping its chips will get you dipping. The company has come out with the "Beer Chip" -- it's a combination of two-party staples in one. The company is called Beer Chips, but it's not limited to one type of alcohol. It's also sells margarita and bloody mary flavored chips as well. Perfect for the hangover.
The things kids do to pay for college these days
A university student has been charged with a felony for trying to sell his vote in the upcoming presidential election. Guess where he thought there might be a market for these kinds of shenanigans? On eBay, of course. The student Max Sanders is 19 years old and says the whole things was a joke. He allegedly asked for a $10 minimum bid. He would then presumably agree to select the candidate chosen by the high bidder. Unfortunately, his state, Minnesota has an 1893 law that forbids buying or selling votes.

Chrysler is trying to expand its sales in the Chinese market. It already has a deal with the country's Cherry Automobile Company to produce a model under the Dodge brand.

The Weather Channel has been one of the last privately-owned cable channels.
No more. Meet the new owners: NBC Universal and private equity firms Bain Capital and Blackstone Group. The New York Times reports the group paid just under $3.5 billion for the channel and related properties like weather.com. The Weather Channel's parent, Landmark Communications, was hoping to get $5 billion for this deal. Under the terms, the channel will be run as an independent operation, rather than being merged into NBC's Weather Plus.
