Our Unique Relationship with God: No matter what their belief system or religious affiliation, everyone has their own beliefs about God, and their own unique way of communicating with him (her?). Here’s “The Simpsons”’ lovable Bible-thumper Ned Flanders’ direct line to God:
Krista Tippet, host of “Speaking of Faith”, will be here to discuss her new book on the role of politics in politics and everyday family life.
Vote Diddling: The 2000 presidential election taught us that the American voting system is far from fool-proof. But with the 2008 history-making contest now just two weeks away, we can’t afford mistakes. Has the system been fixed in the last eight years?
There’s oil in them thar hills: Stories of renewed interest in oil drilling in and around the greater Los Angeles area have been all over the place since the price of oil shot up the charts. Even with prices coming back down to earth there is still incentive to explore and refurbish older oil wells—case in point, a debate today in front of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors over new drilling in the Baldwin Hills. Should the L.A. Supes grant a new zoning ordinance allowing for oil drilling in Baldwin Hills?
Stimulus Package 2.0: Rumblings in Congress about a new economic stimulus package and already there’s disagreement between Democratcs and Republicans: the size of a new package, given the staggering amounts of cash the government has already given away this year; and the shape of stimulus—tax cuts or infrastructure projects?
