LAPD Chief Bratton discusses plans to prevent violent crime

Just before last week’s coordinated terror attacks in Mumbai, India, fewer than a dozen gunmen slipped into that city almost without notice. LAPD Chief William Bratton told KPCC’s “Patt Morrison” that his department is trying to draw lessons from the chaotic result.

Chief William Bratton: “We have also recently unveiled the Suspicious Activity Reporting System, SAS. And that’s where we get the local residents, local senior lead officers, our local beat cops to report information that they think might be relative to a terrorist type activity.”

Bratton asked Angelenos to notice and speak up about extreme changes in the behavior of loved ones, friends, and neighbors. He noted that in this country six years ago, two random snipers with automatic weapons terrorized the Washington, DC area.
