Chagrined voter from Venice:

I just want to report that my vote for Barak Obama did not count. I am one of the many non-partisan voters who did not realize that I had to mark something at the top of the ballot (what I would call "above the ballot") in order for my vote in the Democratic Party primary to count. I had read my Sample Ballot instructions carefully, but they misled me into thinking all I needed to do was put my ballot into the machine in the Democratic booth and proceed to vote.

I normally read every part of every instruction, but this time I thought I knew what I was doing, and I was wrong. I am embarassed, of course. I'm also annoyed at what I see as a bit of ineptness on the part of either the registrar or the Democratic Party.
