Aliens could be sending messages through stars
University of Hawaii physicist John Learned is suggesting it's at least possible an advanced civilization is manipulating light from certain kinds of stars known as Cepheid Variables as a way to send crude messages across the universe.

Cepheids vary regularly in brightness and can be seen from as far away as 60 million light years.
Learned says a well-placed shot of high energy particles - neutrinos perhaps - into a Cepheid could give the shooter control over the patterns of pulsation, and therefore the ability to craft simple coded messages.
