The Black and Gold
This week in 1892, William “Pudge” Heffelfinger put the “pro” in pro football. Hear his story, then see if you can tackle a cocktail honoring one of the teams he spawned:
“The Black and Gold,” as mixed by Jesse Best, bartender at Olive or Twist in the cradle of pro football - Pittsburgh, PA.
In a shaker, pour:
- 1 1/2 oz. Blavod black vodka
1 oz. Chambord Shake vigorously, strain into chilled martini shell to create black bottom layer. Separately, in shaker, combine:
1/4 oz. Limoncello
- 1/4 oz. sours
Shake and spoon over the Vodka/Chambord mixture to create upper “gold layer.” Garnish with twist of lemon. Sip and happily accept penalty for unsportsmanlike drinking.
