The State of Broadcast Journalism

This was a stunning movie both visually and content-wise. David Strathairn's portrayal of Edward R. Murrow was mesmerizing, definitely an Oscar-worthy performance. The use of the original kinescopes and films from the CBS broadcasts to portray Sen. Edward McCarthy and other individuals was incredible. You see and hear, in their own words what was happening to them at the time. I was struck by how much journalism has changed over the last 40+ years. Murrow predicted the decline of intelligent debate and the increase of pandering to the public. I learned a lot about the times, and the state of broadcast journalism and how it can truly affect people.
